BIM education in Tunisia and the MENA region

The construction industry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is experiencing a period of rapid growth and development. With increasing demand for infrastructure, housing, and commercial developments, the sector is expected to continue expanding in the coming years. In this context, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has emerged as a key tool for improving efficiency, productivity, and quality in the construction process.

However, the adoption of BIM techniques and technologies in the MENA region has been limited by the lack of education and training in the field. Many professionals and students in the region do not have access to comprehensive BIM training, limiting their opportunities for career growth and advancement.

To address this gap in BIM education, a number of initiatives have been launched in recent years in Tunisia and the MENA region. These initiatives aim to provide professionals and students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their careers and contribute to the growth and development of the construction sector in the region.

One of the leading initiatives in BIM education in the MENA region is HK Consulting, a Tunisian-based BIM consulting firm that was founded in 2017. Since its inception, HK Consulting has been dedicated to the democratization of BIM knowledge and tools in the region. Through its training platform, UBIM, and a wider range of BIM courses and workshops, the company has provided access to high-quality BIM education to professionals and students in the region.

HK Consulting’s efforts in BIM education have been recognized at the international level. In 2020, the company was awarded the Workforce of the Future Award at the Big 5 international event in Dubai. The award recognizes the company’s efforts in integrating BIM into university curricula and innovating training courses and products.

The award is a testament to HK Consulting’s commitment to driving the adoption of BIM in the MENA region. The company has been successful in its efforts to democratize BIM knowledge and tools, and it has played a crucial role in the growth and development of the construction sector in the region.
